BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. presented positive data from its two completed, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 studies of BCX4208 in patients with gout at the Annual European Congress of Rheumatology hosted by the European League Against Rheumatism in London, U.K.

ImmunoGen's clinical data on IMGN901 and SAR3419 to be presented at ASCO 2011

ImmunoGen, Inc., a biotechnology company that develops targeted antibody-based anticancer products using its antibody expertise and Targeted Antibody Payload (TAP) technology, today announced that favorable clinical data on two ImmunoGen-created TAP compounds - IMGN901 and SAR3419 - are being presented at the ASCO 2011 Annual Meeting taking place in Chicago, IL, June 4-8, 2011.

Boehringer Ingelheim's new afatinib-cetuximab phase Ib data in NSCLC presented at ASCO 2011

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. will present new phase Ib data at the 2011 American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting in Chicago that indicates combining its investigational therapy afatinib with cetuximab at the maximum tested dose controlled disease in all (n=22) treated epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutation positive patients with non-small cell lung cancer who developed acquired resistance to treatment with a reversible EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor.

NEJM publishes ZYTIGA plus prednisone Phase 3 trial data in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer

A study titled "Abiraterone and Increased Survival in Metastatic Prostate Cancer," published in the May 26 issue of NEJM, found that patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer who have received prior chemotherapy containing docetaxel showed a significant improvement in overall survival when treated with ZYTIGA plus prednisone compared to patients treated with prednisone plus placebo.

It's often thought of as a man's disease and may not receive as much attention as other illnesses, but coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death in women in the U.S. It is so common that if you combine the number of women who die from the next five leading causes of death it would equal the number of women who die from CAD.

Neoprobe, Devicor sign gamma detection device asset purchase agreement

Neoprobe Corporation, a diversified developer of innovative oncology surgical and diagnostic products, today announced that it has signed a definitive asset purchase agreement to sell its neoprobe GDS line of gamma detection device systems to Devicor Medical Products, Inc. for $30 million in cash, plus a contingent value provision for payment to Neoprobe of up to an additional $20 million in royalties.
