Additional data supporting utility of PAM50 gene signature for breast cancer to be presented at ASCO 2011

NanoString Technologies, Inc., a privately held provider of life science tools for translational research and developer of molecular diagnostics, today announced that researchers will present additional evidence for the potential utility of profiling breast cancer based on the PAM50 gene signature at the 2011 American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting taking place in Chicago, Illinois from June 3-7.

Thermography is not a substitute for mammography, warns FDA

The Food and Drug Administration warns that thermography should not be used in place of mammography for breast cancer screening or diagnosis. FDA says mammography— an X-ray of the breast—is still the most effective way of detecting breast cancer in its earliest stages.

Maryland researchers deny link between cell phone radiation and brain cancer

University of Maryland researchers in the A. James Clark School of Engineering have expressed concerns regarding the validity of recent findings announced in the Journal of the American Medical Association and a World Health Organization panel suggesting that radiation from cell phones may be carcinogenic.

Battelle, Perma-Fix sign exclusive option agreement to make medical isotopes

Medical oncologists confirm benefits of crizotinib in ALK positive lung cancer

A drug that targets a specific type of lung cancer shows a dramatic response in more than half of the people who take it.
