Walnuts best for heart when compared to other nuts

The latest research has shown that walnuts are the best nuts to prevent heart disease. Eating seven of the protein-rich walnuts a day could also help cut the risk of some cancers and type-2 diabetes say researchers. These nuts contain more antioxidants than almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias, peanuts, pecans and pistachios.

AACC and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society announce 2011 recipients of Frank Lanza Memorial Scholarships

The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, with the generous support of Medical Education Technologies, Inc. (METI) and L-3 Communications, Inc., are pleased to announce the 2011 recipients of the Frank Lanza Memorial Scholarships. The scholarships recognize the accomplishments of students enrolled in allied health programs offered by regionally accredited community colleges. Twenty-five students received scholarships of $1,000 each.

HIV uses base excision repair pathway to insert DNA into host-cell genome

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the cause of AIDS, makes use of the base excision repair pathway when inserting its DNA into the host-cell genome, according to a new study led by researchers at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Crippling the repair pathway prevents the virus from completing this critical step in the retrovirus's life cycle.

Mersana commences XMT-1001 Phase 1b extension study in gastric cancer and non-small cell lung cancer
