IDSI submits Premarket Notification for CTLM breast imaging device to FDA

Imaging Diagnostic Systems, Inc., a pioneer in laser breast imaging, announced today that a Premarket Notification 510(k) was submitted on Monday, November 22, 2010, to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In an article entitled, "What's the Hard Return on Employee Wellness Programs?" it was shown that the return on investment (ROI) of effective workplace wellness programs can be as high as 6 to 1.

Eckert & Ziegler enters exclusive sales agreement with Zyklotron for Fluorodeoxyglucose

Eckert & Ziegler Strahlen- und Medizintechnik AG, a company specializing in special compounds for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, via its subsidiary company Eckert & Ziegler f-con Deutschland GmbH closed an exclusive sales agreement with the Karlsruhe-based ZAG Zyklotron AG for the regular delivery of Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F) (FDG). FDG is used in the context of the so called Positron Emission Tomography (PET) for the safe and quick recognition of even the smallest tumour foci.

Racial disparities in risk and survival among children with neuroblastoma: Study

Black, Asian, and Native American children are more likely than white and Hispanic children to die after being treated for neuroblastoma, according to new research on the pediatric cancer. The study, of more than 3,500 patients with the disease, is the largest ever to look at racial disparities in risk and survival for the most common solid cancer found in young children.

Access to this level of detail potentially eliminates the need for some invasive biopsies, but it also has the potential to help health care providers make diagnoses earlier than ever before-even before symptoms arise. Erbitux development program featured in ASCO's Clinical Cancer Advances report for third consecutive year

For the third year in a row, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has included Erbitux® (cetuximab) research in its annual report, Clinical Cancer Advances, which features the most significant studies of 2010. The report cites as a notable advance this year the finding that BRAF mutation status is a prognostic, not predictive, marker for Erbitux efficacy in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).

High BMI remains primary problem among wealthier women in developing countries

A new study from the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) finds that high body mass index (BMI) in developing countries remains primarily a problem of the rich. The findings suggest that the shift towards overweight and obesity among the poor that has already happened in wealthier countries has not yet happened in developing countries.
