Biological activity of Curis' CUDC-101 HDAC, EGFR and HER2 inhibitor published in Cancer Research

Curis, Inc., a drug development company seeking to develop next generation targeted small molecule drug candidates for cancer treatment, today announced that a research paper describing the biological activity of its HDAC, EGFR and HER2 inhibitor, CUDC-101, was published online in the journal Cancer Research and also will be published in an upcoming print version of the journal.

Data from pivotal study of Marqibo in ALL patients to be presented at ASCO meeting

Hana Biosciences, a biopharmaceutical company focused on strengthening the foundation of cancer care, today announced that complete data from its pivotal study of Marqibo in patients with relapsed/refractory adult Philadelphia chromosome-negative acute lymphoblastic leukemia, have been accepted for an oral podium presentation at the 46th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology to be held June 4-8, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois.

Celator Pharmaceuticals today announced data from animal studies demonstrating the superior bone marrow uptake of CPX-351 (Cytarabine:Daunorubicin) Liposome Injection, its lead clinical-stage program, as well as the enhanced circulation kinetics and efficacy of its preclinical hydrophobic docetaxel prodrug nanoparticle (HDPN) formulation were presented at the 101st Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research in Washington, DC (Abstracts 3698 and 5534).

OSI Pharmaceuticals' first-quarter 2010 total revenues increase 14% to $107M

OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today its financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2010. The Company reported total revenues from continuing operations of $107 million for the first quarter of 2010, a 14% increase over revenues of $94 million for the first quarter of 2009.

Pfizer announces discontinuation of SUN 1170 Phase 3 study of Sutent in HCC

Pfizer Inc. announced today the discontinuation of the SUN 1170 Phase 3 open-label study of Sutent(r) (sunitinib malate) in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, or liver cancer. Following a review by the independent Data Monitoring Committee, the study was discontinued based on a higher incidence of serious adverse events in the sunitinib arm compared to the sorafenib arm and the fact that sunitinib did not meet the criteria to demonstrate that it was either superior or non-inferior to sorafenib in the survival of patients with advanced hepatocellular cancer.
