Phase II clinical study examining CTT's Calmare pain therapy medical device completed

Competitive Technologies, Inc. announced today that Thomas J. Smith, MD FACP, and co-investigator Patrick J. Coyne, MSN, APRN, FAAN, of Virginia Commonwealth University's Massey Cancer Center have completed their open Phase II clinical study examining CTT's Calmare pain therapy medical device's efficacy treating patients suffering with severe pain from chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University has been awarded $750,000 by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to study the impact of housing on the cardiovascular health of Latinos in the Bronx.

UA Superfund Research Program to study contaminated dust, water and health issues

Metal-laden dust and contaminated water, and their health effects, will be the focus of multiple projects for the University of Arizona's Superfund Research Program during the next five years. The National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences recently notified UA that the Superfund Research Program, funded since 1989, will receive an additional $14 million in grant funding through 2015 to conduct the research.

FDA approves Sagent Pharmaceuticals' two ANDAs to market granisetron

Phase II GAMMAGARD clinical study for Alzheimer's disease: 18-month results announced

Baxter International Inc. and New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center today announced results of an 18-month Phase II clinical study of GAMMAGARD LIQUID and GAMMAGARD S/D [Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human)] (marketed as KIOVIG outside of the U.S.) for mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease. This marked the first announcement of clinical trial results measuring function and cognition in patients who received uninterrupted GAMMAGARD for a period of 18 months.

Enrollment complete in Jennerex' Phase 1 trial of JX-594 IV administration for solid tumors

Hybridyne Imaging Technologies, Inc., a developer of compact, high-resolution gamma cameras for the detection of cancer and other abnormalities in the body, announces FDA clearance of ProxiScan. The system can be used in imaging the distribution of radionuclides in the human body using planar imaging techniques. Australian scientists sequence genome of pancreatic cancer

The International Cancer Genome Consortium which includes researchers from 22 countries is mapping the genomes of different types of cancers. A genome is essentially a blueprint of a human’s DNA. The genetic data of each individual is different and so is the genetic data of the cancer in the individual. The Australian scientists are sequencing the genomes of people suffering from pancreatic cancer.
