Comcast Corporation and Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) have launched the second installment of musical assets for Stand Up 2 Cancer On Demand, the first-ever video-on-demand (VOD) initiative focused on broadening awareness and raising funds for innovative cancer research, which debuted on Comcast in December.

NCCS joins CoC to reduce morbidity and mortality of cancer

The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) has accepted an invitation to join the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a multidisciplinary organization administered by the American College of Surgeons dedicated to reducing the morbidity and mortality of cancer through education, standards setting, and the monitoring of quality of care.

UnitedHealthcare launches OCA program for cancer patients

UnitedHealthcare, a UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) company, launched its Oncology Care Analysis (OCA) program. This patient-focused, integrated program uses a first-of-its-kind database that combines clinical and claims data to gauge the quality of cancer patient care based on approved treatment guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), an alliance of 21 leading cancer centers.

Soft drinks increase risk of developing pancreatic cancer

Consuming two or more soft drinks per week increased the risk of developing pancreatic cancer by nearly two-fold compared with individuals who did not consume soft drinks, according to a report in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

Sequenom CMM licenses rights from Optherion to develop and commercialize AMD diagnostic tests

Sequenom, Inc., today announced an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with Optherion, Inc. Under the agreement, Sequenom's CAP accredited and CLIA-certified laboratory, Sequenom Center for Molecular Medicine (Sequenom CMM), obtained the rights to develop and commercialize diagnostic tests to predict genetic predisposition to late stage age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
