Sun exposure during childhood may lower risk of developing multiple sclerosis

People who spent more time in the sun as children may have a lower risk of developing multiple sclerosis (MS) than people who had less sun exposure during childhood, according to a study published in the July 24, 2007, issue of Neurology ®, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

Group therapy does not prolong the lives of women with metastatic breast cancer

Earlier results from the same researcher had suggested a survival benefit of group therapy for women with metastatic breast cancer. However, the new study did find that women with estrogen receptor (ER) negative tumors did show survival benefit, and that group therapy improved quality of life (QOL).

EpiCept Corporation has announced that it will study EpiCept NP-1, its patented topical cream formulation of two FDA-approved drugs, 4% amitriptyline and 2% ketamine, for the treatment of chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (CPN) in the ATTRACT-CPN Phase III Study (Assessment of Topical Treatment Response with Amitriptyline and Ketamine: Combination Trial in Chemotherapy Peripheral Neuropathy).

Court dismisses Gen-Probe court action against Digene

Digene Corp. has announced that a California state court has dismissed a complaint filed against the company by Gen-Probe, Inc., without option to amend. Gen-Probe's complaint asked the court to declare that an agreement between Gen-Probe and F. Hoffman-LaRoche Ltd.
