Oramed starts patient recruitment in Israel for ORMD-0801 clinical trial for patients with T1DM

Oramed Pharmaceuticals Inc., a developer of oral drug delivery systems, announced today that it has initiated patient recruitment for a new clinical trial of its orally ingestible insulin capsule, ORMD-0801 for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus in Israel.

Childhood obesity: an interview with Dr. Kevin Hall, NIDDK, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA

Our research uses mathematical modelling to quantify calorie intake as children grow at a healthy rate as well as when they develop obesity. We showed that the development of childhood obesity required a much greater increase in calories than previously thought since prior estimates did not properly account for metabolic changes as children grow.

Rates of childhood obesity showed the first signs of a small decline in 19 of 43 sites studied by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Despite this encouraging news, nearly 1 in 6 (17%) children and teens are obese, including 1 in 8 (12%) preschoolers.

Dermatology researcher Nicole Ward, PhD, has earned her third National Institutes of Health grant in a year - including two that scored in the first percentile. With this most recent award, an R21, she will investigate the role the nervous system plays in psoriasis - an inflammatory autoimmune disease characterized by raised areas of red, scaly, itchy and sometimes painful patches of skin.
