Grunenthal Group submits Marketing Authorization Application to EMA for ZALVISO

AcelRx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Grunenthal Group announced today that Grunenthal has submitted a Marketing Authorization Application (MAA) to the European Medicines Authority for ZALVISO for the management of moderate to severe acute pain in adult patients in a medically supervised environment.

Hospira acquires API manufacturing and R&D facilities from Orchid for about $218 million

Hospira, Inc., the world's leading provider of injectable drugs and infusion technologies, today announced it has completed the acquisition of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing facility and an associated research and development (R&D) facility from Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., a leading Indian pharmaceuticals company, for approximately $218 million, after settling prior advances of approximately $30 million.

In New York, insurer requests for rate increases on the health law's exchange averaged 13 percent, while Denver Health is asking state regulators for a 17.5 percent hike next year. Georgia has a different story: Two companies are planning to enter the exchange next year and Blue Cross, the only statewide plan on the exchange this year, says it will drop rates by 7 percent.
