Millennium announces data on VELCADE in treatment of patients with amyloidosis

Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company today announced data examining the use of VELCADE in the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory light chain (AL) amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is a rare condition in which excessive proteins build up in organs or tissues, such as the heart, kidney or liver. These data were presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) held in Chicago, Illinois, June 4-8, 2010.

Fox Chase Cancer Center announces first-in-human bi-specific HER2/HER3 pathway targeting antibody

Patients with HER2-positive cancers can have dramatic responses to HER2-targeted drugs but eventually develop resistance to the agents. With that problem in mind, Fox Chase Cancer Center researchers are testing a novel type of antibody called MM-111 in patients with HER2-positive disease who have progressed on standard therapy.

The John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center announced today important research findings that will be presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting taking place June 4 - 8, 2010 in Chicago. Merck announced today results from a new non-inferiority trial of an antiemetic regimen containing fosaprepitant dimeglumine administered as a single intravenous (IV) 150-mg dose in combination with a 5-HT3 antagonist and dexamethasone compared with a three-day regimen of aprepitant with a 5-HT3 antagonist and dexamethasone for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) in patients receiving a first cycle of cisplatin-based chemotherapy.
