Prostate cancer patients with bone metastases benefit from repeated 188Re-HEDP therapy

For prostate cancer patients with bone metastases, repeated administrations of radionuclide therapy with 188Re-HEDP are shown to improve overall survival rates and reduce pain, according to new research published in the November issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine.

Watson third quarter net income increases 31% to $138.7 million

Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today reported net revenue of $1.1 billion for the third quarter ended September 30, 2011, an increase of 23 percent when compared to $882.4 million in the third quarter 2010. On a non-GAAP basis, net income for the third quarter 2011 increased 31 percent to $138.7 million or $1.09 per diluted share, compared to $105.9 million or $0.85 per diluted share in the third quarter 2010.

Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc., today confirmed that the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts has granted Momenta Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Sandoz Inc.'s request for a preliminary injunction preventing Watson and Amphastar Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from marketing or selling Amphastar's Enoxaparin Sodium Injection, a generic equivalent to Sanofi-aventis' LOVENOX.

The human liver fluke Clonorchis sinensis affects more than 35 million people in South East Asia and 15 million in China. Infection by this parasite causes clonorchiasis. Repeated or chronic infection can lead to serious disease of the liver, gall bladder or bile ducts, including the frequently fatal bile duct cancer - cholangiocarcinoma.
