Sartorius reports substantial gain in first half for 2010

Today Sartorius, a leading international process and laboratory technology provider, published its first-half results for 2010. Both the Biotechnology Division and the Mechatronics Division reported substantial gains in order intake and sales revenue. The two divisions expanded their business in all regions. Besides the continued strong development in the Biotechnology Division, the positive earnings contributed by the Mechatronics Division are especially encouraging, given that this division faced an exceptionally adverse business climate last year as a result of the global economic crisis.

Pall enters new $500 million 5-year revolving credit facility

A study released today "online first" in Cancer Causes & Control demonstrates that human papillomavirus testing, using QIAGEN's digene HPV Test, improved cervical cancer control compared to routine Pap (cytology) testing among 50,000 women across Mexico, the first country in Latin America to implement a national screening program for the high-risk types of HPV that can cause cervical cancer.

Roche obtains global co-exclusive license for PI3K biomarker from QIAGEN

Roche announced today that the company has obtained a worldwide co-exclusive license for the biomarker PI3K (phosphoinositide 3-kinase) from QIAGEN to develop real-time and endpoint PCR diagnostic assays. Johns Hopkins University owns the patent for the PI3K biomarker and has previously granted an exclusive license to QIAGEN's wholly owned subsidiary DxS, now QIAGEN Manchester.

BioImagene licenses Olympus patents in digital pathology, virtual microscopy

Olympus America Inc. has signed a nonexclusive worldwide licensing agreement with BioImagene, Inc. of Sunnyvale, California, allowing BioImagene to access an extensive portfolio of Olympus patents in the field of digital pathology and virtual microscopy. Screening for HPV genotypes 16 and 18 helps detect cervical pre-cancer missed by Pap test

Roche today announced that data from the ATHENA (Addressing THE Need for Advanced HPV Diagnostics) U.S. registration trial of over 47,000 women demonstrate that two human papillomavirus genotypes, HPV 16 and HPV 18, can identify those women with cervical pre-cancer missed by cytologic examination with a Papanicolau (Pap) test.
