Kyto Biopharma signs licensing agreement with RFSUNY, gains patent rights to Transcobalamin Receptor

Kyto Biopharma Inc., is pleased to announce that it has signed a licensing agreement with the Research Foundation of the State University of New York. The licensing agreement grants Kyto patent rights to the Transcobalamin (Vitamin B12) Receptor and to an additional broad group of other patents which are critical to Kyto’s research and development strategy for the treatment of cancer.

The White House full court press on health care

Reuters: President Obama is holding "two meetings with Democratic legislators at the White House on Thursday as he pushes for a vote this month on his healthcare overall plan." The first, which was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. EST, "is expected to include 11 left-leaning members and leaders of minority groups in the House of Representatives, a White House spokesman said." The second meeting "is with leaders of the New Democrat Coalition, a group of centrist Democrats. Seven U.S. representatives are expected to attend that meeting" (Zengerle, 3/4).

MedCAREERS GROUP to acquire StaffMD

MedCAREERS GROUP, Inc. today announced that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire StaffMD a leading online job posting website in the physician staffing industry. StaffMD operates primarily under the name www.physicianwork.com, but it has other operating assets as well. StaffMD was founded ten years ago by Jeffrey Sisk and he will remain with the Company after the closing of the pending acquisition.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third leading cause of cancer death among men and women nationwide, yet only half of people who need CRC screening receive it. The American Gastroenterological Association Institute is working to educate patients about the importance of screening and to encourage everyone age 50 and older to get screened for CRC.

Today, the Japanese subsidiary of pharmaceutical giant, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), announced that it would begin a voluntary recall of Poligrip products that contain zinc in that country Friday. The company's decision followed just three reports of adverse health effects in consumers of the product, sold in Japan as Poligrip EX.

Sebelius, whose resume includes a stretch as a state insurance commissioner, "is taking aim at rising premium rates as she joins President Barack Obama's push for an overhaul of the nation's health-coverage laws.
