Pathology Service Associates, LLC (PSA), a MED3OOO Company, was recently selected by Rex Healthcare Laboratory for revenue cycle management (billing), marketing, and business support services.

Rex Healthcare Laboratory is a full-service, comprehensive clinical laboratory located within Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. The Rex Healthcare Laboratory services Rex Healthcare facilities and local physician offices, as well as other clients in Raleigh and the surrounding areas. "We selected PSA for their billing expertise and their marketing services to help enhance our outreach business," commented Stephen Finch, Rex Hospital Lab Director. "We are very excited about developing a relationship with PSA and look forward to the many benefits offered by this partnership."

PSA has provided, for the past 12 years, the revenue cycle management services to Rex Pathology Associates, the local independent pathology group associated with Rex Hospital. The combined reporting and trending that will be provided by PSA's robust reporting utilities will aid both the hospital and the physician group in leveraging the relationship in the community healthcare system for their mutual advantage.

"Clinical laboratory outreach billing has proven challenging for us for many years," according to Timothy Carter, M.D., with Rex Pathology Associates. "Our pathology group's long experience with PSA for anatomic pathology billing has proven PSA to be a high-quality, results-oriented company. PSA delivers great results with integrity, high ethical standards, and many flexible reporting and business analysis resources. As Medical Director of our clinical laboratory, I wanted to bring this same level of performance to the clinical lab arena. When PSA expressed a readiness to take on this challenge, I knew they would be our billing company of choice. Choosing PSA for billing and business development support will be the foundation of our renewed focus on client satisfaction and successful expansion of Rex Healthcare solutions for our community physician practices."

PSA has been providing business services to pathology clients nationwide for fifteen years, and is now expanding services to the clinical laboratory arena. "We are delighted to be selected by Rex Healthcare Laboratory as their billing partner," commented Al Sirmon, President of PSA. "PSA is committed to providing exceptional services that not only improve the bottom-line through premium billing services, but also through support services that allow practices and laboratories to gain or maintain a competitive advantage within their markets."

"We are excited to bring Rex Healthcare Laboratory into the PSA client base. There are real revenue enhancement opportunities for hospital labs in maximizing collections through outsourcing clinical lab billing. Most hospital billing departments are focused on inpatient services and other high dollar procedures, and not as well geared towards high volume, low dollar procedure billing. Many organizations are leaving significant dollars on the table that a company like PSA, who specializes in this type of work, can capture efficiently," notes Laura Chaney, PSA's VP of Operations.
