Specialists On Call, Inc. (SOC), the nation's leading private teleneurology company, announced today that its ongoing expansion will include increasing access to emergency neurology on-call services throughout the state of Georgia.  SOC's recent agreement with DeKalb Medical Center, a four hundred plus bed facility serving Decatur and surrounding areas, guarantees their patients immediate 24/7 access to a select cadre of board certified neurologists for any neurologic emergency.

The Director of DeKalb Medical Center's Emergency Room, Dr. Pascal Crosley, remarked, "With Specialists On Call we have enhanced our emergency neurology capabilities and can effectively treat a wider range of patients including victims of stroke.  This teleneurology service is an invaluable addition to our emergency room which will better serve our patients and our community."

Specialists On Call already provides teleneurology services to hospitals in eight other states and has conducted more than 10,000 consultations via telemedicine since the company's inception.  Their reliability and performance has earned them both a leadership position within the telemedicine industry as well as the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval.

Dr. Joe Peterson, CEO, commented, "We're pleased that our model for providing emergency neurology on-call coverage is generating such demand and we're thrilled to be working with DeKalb Medical Center as well as other hospitals in Georgia.  With SOC supporting local ED and inpatient physicians, hospitals are able to treat neurologic emergencies and stroke patients with greater efficiency and effectiveness.  This translates into clear clinical and financial benefits for our hospital clients and their patients.  In fact, with every opportunity to expand our service, we get the chance to extend access to state-of-the-art neurology care to emergency patients that otherwise have to do without.   In many emergencies, but especially in acute strokes, our ability to intervene in minutes can have remarkable impact upon the patient's recovery, dramatically bettering the lives of patients and their families."
