Thomson Reuters has earned the Communication Seal from DALBAR, Inc. for its Personal Health Insights, an easy-to-read-and-understand health statement for individuals.
Employers and health plans provide Personal Health Insights to help beneficiaries understand their healthcare utilization, payments, financial balances and opportunities to improve their health and save money. Personal Health Insights was one of the top five communications tools to receive the DALBAR seal.
DALBAR, a leading third-party evaluator of consumer communications, analyzed health statements and Explanation of Benefits in a national survey in which 35 leading health organizations participated. More than two-thirds (68 percent) of these communications earned failing grades.
"Health plans have a huge opportunity to increase loyalty and satisfaction by investing in clear, compelling communications that go beyond just meeting regulatory requirements," said Kathleen Whalen, Managing Director at DALBAR. "The Thomson Reuters solution received particularly high ratings for their innovative, engaging layout and personalized messaging."
The evaluation rated information clarity, content and design using a method developed and refined over two decades of evaluating customer communication in financial services and healthcare. DALBAR looks for features that help consumers understand the significance of the information, answer pertinent questions for the consumer and use design elements that enhance understanding and ease of reading.
"As individuals take on increased financial responsibility for their healthcare, they need better tools to help them manage their care more effectively and plan for related expenses proactively," said Jon Newpol, executive vice president, Thomson Reuters. "We are pleased to be recognized as an industry leader in advancing healthcare communications with engaging, meaningful information."
