Motion Computing®, a leading provider of integrated mobile computing solutions, today announced that The Whole Child Pediatrics, P.S.C. is experiencing significant improvements with Motion® C5 Mobile Clinical Assistants (MCAs). With the C5s and new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software, clinicians can seamlessly connect to information throughout the office while continuing to provide quality patient care.

“Being able to test the C5 illustrated exactly what it could do for our practice which made the purchase a much easier decision.”

The Whole Child Pediatrics, P.S.C., a full-service pediatric practice, treats patients for traditional well visits, sick visits and referrals to specialists for more advanced care. Traditionally the clinic relied on a paper management system, but with the implementation of the EMR, it was important to find a mobile, lightweight solution that would extend the use of the software capabilities and fit seamlessly into its fast-paced healthcare environment.

The clinic turned to Allegiance Tablet PC Experts, an experienced provider of tablet PC solutions, for guidance in selecting the best devices. Allegiance, a Motion reseller partner, recommended the C5 because of its durability, mobility and ease of use.

"Allegiance was willing to work with us by allowing us to trial the tablets to be sure they would fit into our environment," said Dr. Wafa J. Nasser, M.D., F.A.A.P. "Being able to test the C5 illustrated exactly what it could do for our practice which made the purchase a much easier decision."

Since deploying the C5 with the new EMR software, clinicians can now forward patient files, send notes to nurses, fax prescriptions, immediately order tests and complete documentation while staying in the exam room with patients. In addition, the C5s allow the practice staff to automatically enter patient charges as the chart is finalized. All patient encounters are immediately saved, signed and ready for billing.

"The tablets are awesome," said Dr. Nasser. "They are clearly built rugged and can withstand the demands of a healthcare environment. The handle makes them easy to carry and because the C5s allow us to multi-task, we are able to continue our one-on-one patient care in the exam room while simultaneously completing any paperwork or requests."

Patient education has also been streamlined as the C5s provide anywhere access to information online. Now patient education materials are available on-demand. Being able to fax prescriptions from the tablet PC creates a huge cost savings for the clinic because an e-prescribing service is no longer needed. More importantly, families are impressed with the technology implementation.

"We've asked parents how we're doing and they feel we've improved since we started using the technology," added Dr. Nasser. "I agree and think that with the C5s we've saved time and money and increased patient satisfaction, which is a very important factor to us."
