International Rehabilitative Sciences, Inc. d/b/a RS Medical, announced today its first award of a Federal Supply Schedule contract. The contract is in effect through June 14, 2015.

“Of the almost 8 million Veterans Administration Health System enrollees alone, a growing number of aging and just-returned veterans need longer term pain management and rehabilitation”

Millions of veterans and those with federal health benefits can now have access to RS Medical's non-drug, non-invasive pain management and rehabilitation devices that are patient-administered home therapies to relieve acute and chronic pain, and improve function. The handheld stimulators, traction apparatus and advanced spinal bracing products include the RS-4i® Sequential Stimulator and the Pronex® Inline Cervical Traction.

RS Medical will leverage its national direct distribution and service staff of more than 250 to focus on the growing demand among veterans for cost-effective, patient-administered home therapies to relieve pain and improve function.

"Of the almost 8 million Veterans Administration Health System enrollees alone, a growing number of aging and just-returned veterans need longer term pain management and rehabilitation," said John Konsin, RS Medical's president and chief executive officer. "Now under the federal supply schedule contract, RS Medical's non-drug, non-invasive solutions are widely available."

Konsin adds that expanded direct sales and support expert teams help clinicians to educate patients and support multidisciplinary patient care in the lowest cost setting. RS Medical products are currently prescribed in more than 70 Veterans Administration health care facilities nationwide.

RS Medical's products are also available via the GSA Advantage!® online ordering Web site.

The news today follows last week's statement in which Konsin announced eight new executive appointments, calling the new executive team, "bold leadership for a growth era" at RS Medical.

For the Vancouver, Washington-based company, he added, "RS Medical is prepared for the predicted, continuing market growth in the applications of electrotherapy and non-invasive technologies that address pain and function needs. Our 2010 results demonstrate our capabilities to acquire new contracts, support one of the nation's largest direct physician sales and service teams, and launch a new direct-to-physician supply model in RS Medical Direct.™ We are positioning RS Medical for new markets and new partners."
