OneMedPlace today announced that its 5th annual "OneMedForum San Francisco 2012" event will culminate with the "India Forum" on the afternoon of January 11, 2012. The forum will examine how Western companies can capitalize in the booming India market. It will highlight how dramatic changes in regulatory and market structure in India, the world's largest democracy, have created unusual opportunities for biotechnology and medical technology companies in the region.

“We view India as a great place for U.S. and European life science companies to focus their attention [and] consider collaborations”

Mr. Jeff Margolis, President and Founder of Aurora Capital LLC, a New York-based investment-banking boutique that concentrates on the biotech and medtech sectors, will moderate the session. Mr. Margolis, who has led life science fund management companies and venture funds, is a seasoned investment-banking specialist in life sciences and biotechnology.

"We view India as a great place for U.S. and European life science companies to focus their attention [and] consider collaborations," said Margolis. "India has historically been known to provide wonderful services to the worldwide pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, services such as data management, and CRO services…[but] is emerging as much more of a global player in deeper and broader aspects of the life science space… One can now begin to think about Indian pharmaceutical companies [as] strategic investors or strategic partners in innovative products. This is something new."

The India Forum will include an afternoon of panels featuring executives, investors, and experts sharing insights on opportunities within India and tactics that companies can use to enter this emerging space. Panelists include: Sri Mosur, CEO of Jubilant Discovery Solutions Inc. and Jubilant Biosys Ltd., India; Abhijit Zutshi, Senior Director of Marketing & Business Development and Head of North American Operations at Biocon Limited; Jeffrey King of Patent Networks Law Group; and Tom Moore, CEO of Advaxis.

The India Forum will be followed by a cocktail reception hosted by Aurora Capital and the New York Biotechnology Association (NYBA).
