The award was presented on May 15, 2013, during the annual gathering of Truven Health Analytics customers, the Advantage Conference, in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Advantage Awards recognize hospitals, health plans, government agencies, and employers that use data analytics to improve the quality of care and business results.
MGM Resorts International was honored for helping to control ever-increasing medical and drug costs by reinforcing healthy lifestyle choices, proper benefit utilization, and patient care delivery. As a result, enrollment in the company's Direct Care Plan doubled this year to nearly 5,000 employees, with an 88 percent satisfaction rating among those who have opted-in.
"Our goal for the Direct Care Plan is to create permanent and positive improvements in the way that health care is delivered, rewarded and valued in Southern Nevada, inspiring other employers and the community as a whole to embrace the new health care delivery systems," said John Socha, executive director of health care operations at MGM Resorts International. "What we believe is truly unique and innovative about the Direct Care Health Plan is that we have built a program around local, independent physicians throughout our community and linked them together through technology, training, and a common goal to improve healthcare in Southern Nevada."
"MGM Resorts' innovative approach and diligent work to improve the quality of healthcare demonstrates a dedication to their employees' careers and overall health," said Mike Boswood, president and CEO of Truven Health Analytics. "Their Direct Care Plan program has set an example for employers on how comprehensive utilization analytics, population health initiatives, and care delivery metrics can be deployed in the real world to improve health outcomes and reduce costs."
MGM Resorts International boasts a peerless portfolio of destination resort brands, including Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, and The Mirage. The company owns and operates properties in Nevada, Mississippi, Michigan, and Macau, China. With 60,000 employees, MGM Resorts offers guests world class gaming, hotel, entertainment, and food and beverage experiences.
