1. Joshua Krasnoff Joshua Krasnoff United States says:

I think this suicide statistic needs to be amended, to accommodate different age populations. As a senior adult who has been on anti-depressant for many year, I'm eternally grateful for its positive, life affirming benefits. My form of depression is genetically pre-disposed, within an over lay of situationally based depression that has occurred from time to time. nevertheless it has been many years since the ordinary stresses of daily living, and unintentional stressors, have added to my depression. It has given me the opportunity to acquire many coping skills, which I use to short circuit threatening stressors. Perhaps the greatest cause of suicide from anti-depressants comes for inaccurate diagnosis by General Practioner MDs, with little psychiatric training, who don't ask the right questions of their psychiatric patients. Also from prescribing these medicines to teenagers without skilled medication management, especially to monitor the effects of the rapidly changing brain chemistry of this young population, as it impacts their changes in behavior.
