Hi Sarah! What a great piece. I wish more people would cover the fascinating topic of Bioremediation.
I've done it in the field as an urban farmer/ grower. And it works!
However, I want to be clear. I did not perform this technique on toxic waste.
Bioremediation is using any biologic to clean/ remediate any toxic environment.
I have used Sunflowers in the past, for instance, to help bioremediate the native/ local soil in preparation for edibles to be grown there.
And Paul Stametes, chief Mycoremediation and Bioremediation Specialist, is a great inspiration for me. He does absolutely amazing work, you should check him out.
    I promise you won't be disappointed. 👌
Again, excellent article. I sent the link to a friend of mine who is a professor and also conducts Bioremediation. Specifically, he assists with Mercury. They use encapsulation where the cement on the walls prevents the mercury in the walls from leaching out. I wonder if the use of this new E. Coli strain could help? Anyway, ttyl.
    Thanks
    Christoph Arthur
