This research shows an association of personality traits with medical student performance, however it does not prove that testing medical students for personality type should be carried out, nor that such testing improves the quality of medical graduates. Such recommendations are spurious and premature. Testing personality for medical student selection is fraught with problems - such as personality type coaching, gaming and on the other hand reducing the range of talent that might make brilliant contributions to medicine.
