My mom is on ventilator for the last 8 weeks, without sedation,GCS is only 4/15. She is a case of acute pancreatitis due to silent gall stone, cystogastrotomy done on 2nd of January, on 3rd of post night she became unconscious. Most likely diagnosis was hypoxic brain damage. EEG revealed extensive cerebral damage. From the first day of unconsciousness there is no change in clinical state. Now she also has developed bed sore over sacrum. Labs are within normal except Hb fluctuating around 10gm/dl,ventilator parameters are, peep 5, simv 10 to 14 ,fio2 40%, she has her own 5 to 7 breaths but occasionally some times not at all. Please give me advice how to wean off her or what other decision can be taken.
