    This provides an alternative explanation for why Omicron is more transmissible - it survives longer outside the body so is infectious longer on surfaces, or in particles suspended in air, etc.  To me this seems a more likely reason than an increase in binding affinity to the ACE2 receptor.  The difference is important, because we need to know if the increase is due to affects inside or outside of the body.
