    Great article, and I'm pleased you've included cycling (when many don't). To get people cycling we need the right conditions: carrots (infrastructure and other 'status' raisers) and sticks (making driving a little less convenient). This is because walking and cycling are things people can do routinely without any special effort or additional payment. They provide transport, meaning people can incorporate exercise into busy lives. In short, active travel is the best way to get people exercising every day.
