Bioluminescence imaging distinguishes tumor growth in vivo; leads to early treatment of eye cancer

At the moment, doctors rely on biopsy analysis to determine the progression of eye cancer. However, researchers now believe that a new technology, bioluminescence imaging (BLI), will allow doctors to detect tumors earlier and quickly choose a method of treatment that doesn't necessarily involve eye surgery.

Altor signs a definitive agreement to sell PaloDEx to Danaher

Altor, a leading Nordic buy-out fund, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell PaloDEx to Danaher Corporation. Altor acquired the dental imaging assets from GE as a carve-out of non-core assets in September 2005 and formed a leading dental imaging company named PaloDEx.

Hyper-SAGE with MRI sensitivity, a promising tool for in vivo diagnostics and molecular imaging

A new technique in Magnetic Resonance Imaging dubbed "Hyper-SAGE" has the potential to detect ultra low concentrations of clincal targets, such as lung and other cancers. Development of Hyper-SAGE was led by one of the world's foremost authorities on MRI technology, Alexander Pines, a chemist who holds joint appointments with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and the University of California, Berkeley.
