The specialist National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) for Mental Health at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) and Institute of Psychiatry (IoP) , King's College London (KCL) has been awarded nearly -1 million from the NIHR to support the development of the BRC's Case Register Interactive Search (CRIS) system.

NCI awards UAMS Myeloma Institute $19.5M grant

The internationally known multiple myeloma program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will receive $19.5 million over five years to continue work that has already developed new treatments for this cancer of plasma cells, a type of white blood cell present in the bone marrow.

A study published this month in the journal Tissue Antigens reports that researchers at Roche Molecular Systems in Pleasanton, CA have used high-throughput sequencing technology from 454 Life Sciences, a Roche Company, to carry out high-resolution human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genotyping in research samples.

Life Technologies reports third quarter 2009 results; non-GAAP and organic revenues increase by 3% and 5%

Life Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:LIFE) today announced results for its third quarter ended September 30, 2009. Non-GAAP revenue for the third quarter was $805 million, an increase of 3 percent over third quarter revenue of $784 million in 2008, as if Invitrogen and Applied Biosystems had been combined.
