KF-SYSCC creates paperless, filmless clinical process in radiation oncology to enhance patient safety

The Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center has established an entirely paperless and filmless clinical process in radiation oncology, designed to enhance patient safety as well as operational efficiency. Using the ARIA oncology information system from Varian Medical Systems, the clinical team has automated essential tasks, built in safety-checks, and centralized patient information for easier access by staff members.

The National Cancer Institute has awarded UT Southwestern Medical Center's Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center its highest designation, making it one of only 45 cancer centers nationally to receive this distinction over the past 44 years.

Mylan N.V. today announced the U.S. launch of Bexarotene 75mg Capsules, which is the generic version of Valeant's Targretin Capsules. This product is indicated for the treatment of cutaneous manifestations of cutaneous t-cell lymphoma in patients who are refractory to at least one prior systemic therapy.

Isis Innovation, Ludwig Cancer Research announce launch of new cancer immunotherapy spinout

Isis Innovation, the University of Oxford's technology commercialisation company, and Ludwig Cancer Research are proud to announce the launch of a new spinout company, iOx Therapeutics. iOx Therapeutics will develop a novel cancer immunotherapy discovered through a collaboration between Ludwig Cancer Research and Professor Vincenzo Cerundolo, the director of the MRC Human Immunology Unit within the University of Oxford's Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine.

Globavir agrees to exclusively license novel oncology compound to Sorrento Therapeutics

Globavir Biosciences, Inc., a specialty biotechnology company developing small molecule drugs to treat cancer and infectious diseases, and Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc., an oncology company developing new treatments for cancer and associated pain, announced today that the companies have entered into an agreement under which Globavir exclusively licensed its novel oncology compound, BC001, to Sorrento Therapeutics.

Janssen-sponsored Phase 2b trial shows guselkumab effective in treating moderate to severe plaque psoriasis

Results published today in The New England Journal of Medicine from a Janssen Research & Development, LLC (Janssen)-sponsored Phase 2b trial showed up to 86 percent of patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis receiving guselkumab (CNTO 1959) achieved a Physician's Global Assessment (PGA) score of cleared psoriasis or minimal psoriasis at week 16, the study's primary endpoint.

Study: Extended-field IMRT for cervical or endometrial cancer does not increase risk of duodenal toxicity

A study of women with cervical or endometrial cancer who require treatment to the para-aortic (PA) lymph nodes can safely receive extended-field intensity modulated radiation therapy (EF-IMRT) without increased risk of duodenal toxicity, according to a study published in the July-August 2015 issue of Practical Radiation Oncology, the American Society for Radiation Oncology's journal focused on the clinical practice of radiation oncology.
