BARDA awards $400M for developing tests and devices to determine radiation absorption after a nuclear/radiological incident

The HHS Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) is awarding nine contracts for the advanced research and development of more effective tests and devices to determine the level of radiation a person has absorbed after a nuclear or radiological incident. The contracts total $35 million for the initial phase and up to $400 million over five years.

Danaher offers GBP 50 million pounds for Genetix Group acquisition

Danaher Corporation announced today its intention to make a recommended cash takeover offer, through an indirect wholly owned subsidiary, to acquire all of the issued and to be issued shares of Genetix Group plc for 85 pence per share implying an aggregate price of approximately GBP 50 million pounds (USD $82 million) net of cash acquired.

Biovator and BASF sign collaboration agreement to develop In Vitro test systems

The Sweden-based biotech company Biovator and the global chemical industry leader BASF have signed a collaboration agreement for final development of In Vitro test systems capable of identifying the potential of chemical compounds to induce allergic reaction in humans. The agreement also includes a five-year BASF option of final product deliveries.
