Pathology is the study and diagnosis of disease through examination of organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and whole bodies (autopsies). The term also encompasses the related scientific study of disease processes, called General pathology. Medical pathology is divided in two main branches, Anatomical pathology and Clinical pathology. Veterinary pathology is concerned with animal disease whereas Phytopathology is the study of plant diseases.

Study confirms MammaPrint's capabilities in determining patients likely to benefit from chemotherapy

Today, at the 11th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Agendia, a world leader in molecular cancer diagnostics, announced that Breast Cancer Research and Treatment has published an important study demonstrating the benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with a high-risk of breast cancer recurrence according to the MammaPrint test. Researchers identify key protein that regulates innate immune system

A team of researchers led by Baylor College of Medicine has identified a protein called NLRC5, a member of the NOD-like protein family, that is involved in inhibition of protein complexes key to critical pathways of innate immunity called NF-κB and type I interferon signaling. A report on their work appears in the current issue of the journal Cell.
