arGEN-X BV announces first closing of its Series A equity financing round

arGEN-X BV, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of human antibodies using its proprietary SIMPLE Antibody platform, today announced the successful first closing of its Series A equity financing round. The Company raised EUR 9.5million (~ USD 13.6 million) from a syndicate of leading life science investors. The financing round is one of the largest of its kind in the last 12 months.

Metabasis Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq:MBRX) announced today that on September 4, 2009 it received a letter from the Listing Qualifications Staff of The Nasdaq Stock Market (the “Staff”) notifying the Company that it did not comply with the minimum $2,500,000 stockholders' equity requirement for continued listing, set forth in Listing Rule 5550(b), prior to the expiration of the extension for such compliance granted by the Staff on June 25, 2009, and that as a result, unless the Company requests an appeal of the Staff’s delisting determination, trading of the Company’s common stock on the Nasdaq Capital Market will be suspended at the opening of business on September 15, 2009.

Phase II trial of ANA598 commenced by Anadys Pharmaceuticals

Amarillo Biosciences is midway in Phase 2 clinical study of interferon against H1N1

Amarillo Biosciences, Inc. (OTCBB: AMAR) today announced that a Phase 2 study of orally administered interferon-alpha for the prevention of influenza and winter colds has reached the midway point. The study in Perth, Australia achieved full target enrollment of 200 subjects and 98% of the subjects remain on study drug.
