NCI awards BioMarker Strategies a SBIR contract to develop its SnapPath live-tumor-cell testing system

BioMarker Strategies, LLC announced today that it has been awarded a Fast-Track Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the National Cancer Institute to develop the SnapPath™ live-tumor-cell testing system. BioMarker Strategies is developing the SnapPath™ system to enable oncologists to determine the most effective drug treatment for their cancer patients.

Zelos Therapeutics commences patient dosing of ZT-034 for treating osteoporosis

Zelos Therapeutics, Inc. has initiated patient dosing in a single dose study of three proprietary subcutaneous formulations of ZT-034 (hPTH (1-34), teriparatide). ZT-034 is being developed to compete with Eli Lilly and Company’s Forteo (teriparatide [rDNA origin]) in its existing market of approximately $800M in annual sales in 2008 for the treatment of osteoporosis.

Aryx Therapeutics to raise up to $35 million from sale of its common stock

ARYx Therapeutics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, today announced that it has secured a committed equity financing facility under which it may sell up to $35 million of shares of its common stock to Commerce Court Small Cap Value Fund, Ltd. (“Commerce Court”) over a 24 month period. The maximum number of shares that can be sold by ARYx is specified in the agreement. ARYx is not obligated to utilize any of the $35 million facility and remains free to enter into and consummate other equity and debt financing transactions.

Repros announces results of its Androxal efficacy study for secondary hypogonadism

Repros Therapeutics Inc. today announced results from an exploratory, efficacy and safety study of its oral investigational product, enclomiphene citrate (Androxal®), in men with secondary hypogonadism who were receiving testosterone replacement treatment. Allos Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that FOLOTYN (pralatrexate injection) is now available for commercial sale in the United States. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted accelerated approval for FOLOTYN for use as a single agent for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) on September 24, 2009.
