Virginia asks high court to expedite review of health law challenge

Virginia's attorney general has hopes to bypass an initial appellate court review and take his state's case against the health overhaul directly to the Supreme Court. The federal Department of Justice has made clear it will oppose this request. U-M Medical School earns $368.7 million in NIH research funding during federal fiscal year 2010

University of Michigan Medical School physicians and scientists earned more than $368.7 million in National Institutes of Health research funding in federal fiscal year 2010, according to NIH data. In all, the School's faculty brought in $481.8 million in research funding from all sources in U-M fiscal year 2010.

Be R.E.A.D.Y. safety initiative to help reduce tube feeding errors in hospitalized kids

In partnership with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, Nestle HealthCare Nutrition launched the "Be R.E.A.D.Y." safety initiative at A.S.P.E.N.'s Clinical Nutrition Week this week to educate pediatric health care professionals on safe enteral (tube) feeding practices for hospitalized kids.

Tenet signs multi-year agreement with UnitedHealthcare

Tenet Healthcare Corporation today announced it signed a multi-year agreement with UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Pennsylvania that covers Hahnemann University Hospital and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA. The agreement also covers physicians employed by subsidiaries of the two hospitals. Financial terms of the agreement were not released.
