SCOLR Pharma grants RedHill worldwide rights to market and sell CDT-based ondansetron

SCOLR Pharma, Inc. today announced that it has executed a Licensing Agreement with RedHill Biopharma Ltd. an Israeli corporation, (RedHill), granting RedHill the worldwide rights to market and sell ondansetron tablet formulations based on SCOLR's proprietary extended delivery technology (CDT). Ondansetron hydrochloride is the active ingredient in Zofran®, GlaxoSmithKline's drug to prevent chemotherapy and radiation related nausea and vomiting.

Cytochroma reports positive results from Phase I trial for CTAP201 Injection in hemodialysis patients

Cytochroma today announced positive Phase I results for CTAP201 Injection, a product being developed to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in hemodialysis patients. The study demonstrated that single intravenous doses of 1 and 3 mcg of CTAP201 were safe and well tolerated. It also identified a starting dose of 2 mcg for subsequent pivotal trials intended to establish the product's safety and efficacy in the targeted population.

FDA assigns BYDUREON new PDUFA action date of October 22, 2010

Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Eli Lilly and Company and Alkermes, Inc. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified the BYDUREON™ (exenatide for extended-release injectable suspension) complete response as a Class 2 resubmission and assigned a new Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) action date of October 22, 2010.

A multicenter team of investigators led by the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine has demonstrated, for the first time, the safety and efficacy of a targeted medication to shrink advanced kidney cancers prior to partial kidney removal and reconstruction. Their findings were published in the April 2010 online edition of BJU International.

Uroplasty, Inc., a medical device company that develops, manufactures and markets innovative proprietary products to treat voiding dysfunctions, announced today that it has been informed that percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS), the procedure performed using the Uroplasty Urgent PC Neuromodulation System, will receive a category 1 CPT reimbursement code. This is expected to occur when those codes are published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which is expected in October 2010.

Study confirms long-term durability of endoscopic RFA using HALO system for eradicating Barrett's esophagus

Results from two major multi-center clinical trials presented at the Digestive Disease Week in New Orleans independently confirmed that the effects of endoscopic radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for eradicating a pre-cancerous condition of the esophagus called Barrett's esophagus are durable in the long-term. In a plenary scientific presentation titled "Endoscopic Radiofrequency Ablation for Barrett's Esophagus: Five-year Durability Outcomes from a Prospective Multi-Center Trial," patients with Barrett's esophagus were treated with endoscopic RFA using the HALO system.
