Higher insulin levels linked to worse prognosis in advanced breast cancer

Patients with breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (metastasised) and who have higher insulin levels than normal, but are not diabetic, have a significantly worse prognosis compared with those with normal insulin levels, a researcher will tell the Advanced Breast Cancer Third International Consensus Conference tomorrow (Friday).

Patients experience improvements in joint specific pain and function after weight-loss surgery

After weight-loss surgery, 57 percent of patients with significant mobility issues before surgery no longer had them and about 70 percent of those with severe knee and hip pain or disability, experienced improvements in joint specific pain and function, according to new study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, that followed patients for three years.
