Roche signs agreement to acquire mtm laboratories

Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., a member of the Roche Group, announced today that Roche has signed an agreement under which it will acquire 100 percent of mtm laboratories AG (mtm), a privately-held company based in Heidelberg, Germany.

An Australian Senate committee has been looking into the impact of coal seam gas (CSG) mining on the Murray-Darling Basin that has moved to Dalby on Queensland's western Darling Downs today. The Senate Standing Committee on Rural Affairs and Transport is touring southern Queensland examining the environmental consequences of CSG mining on the Murray-Darling River system.

Graceway receives FDA approval for Zyclara Cream to treat actinic keratoses

Graceway Pharmaceuticals, LLC announced today that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Zyclara Cream, 2.5% for the treatment of actinic keratoses, determining it to be safe and effective for the treatment of clinically typical, visible or palpable actinic keratoses.

LLS awards new SCOR grants valued at $12.5M for research in lymphoma and myeloproliferative neoplasms

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) today announced it has awarded two new Marshall A. Lichtman Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) grants to Frederick W. Alt, Ph.D., Harvard Medical School, and Anthony Green, M.D., Ph.D., University of Cambridge. Each SCOR is valued at $1.25 million a year for five years for a total of $6.25 million.

Personal health data in Google Health profile can easily be transferred to Microsoft HealthVault account

Microsoft Corp. today announced that people using the Google Health service, scheduled to be discontinued Jan. 1, 2012, can easily transfer their personal health information stored in a Google Health profile to a Microsoft HealthVault account using the Direct Project messaging protocols established by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.

Shionogi to acquire Victory Pharma's products to treat pain and infectious diseases

Shionogi Inc., the U.S.-based group company of Shionogi & Co., Ltd., today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all currently marketed products from Victory Pharma, Inc., including seven treatments for pain and two for infectious diseases. The products, which are all approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), will be marketed by Shionogi's existing sales force.

Study: IL-2 monotherapy not effective as maintenance therapy for acute myeloid leukemia

EpiCept Corporation announced today the publication of a new meta-analysis which concluded that interleukin-2 (IL-2) monotherapy is not effective as a maintenance therapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients in first complete remission.
