FDA clears Affymetrix's new gene profiling reagents for use in microarray instrument system

Epigenomics presents Septin9 blood test study data in colorectal cancer at DDW 2011

According to one of Australia's leading neurosurgeons a massive increase in funding is needed to find a cure for brain cancer. Brain cancer kills one Australian every eight hours. About 1,400 cases of malignant brain cancer are diagnosed in Australia every year and about 1,100 people die from the disease.

Breast cancer linked to lifestyle & three new genes

According to the latest research as many as 20,000 British women could avoid developing breast cancer if they took more exercise, drank less and ate better. The World Cancer Research Fund recommends taking half an hour of physical exercise a day, limiting alcohol consumption to just one drink daily and losing weight.

Junk food ads to be banned to slow childhood obesity rates

Health experts and anti-obesity groups have called for a total ban on junk-food advertising during peak children's viewing times. This comes in the wake of the release of the research finding of the Obesity Policy Coalition that conducted a telephone survey of 1,521 adults says that 84 per cent of consumers believe children should be protected from unhealthy food advertising.

Study provides information about hematuria in microscopic urinalysis and urinary tract cancer

Hematuria or blood in the urine may trigger a battery of tests for urinary tract cancer that are invasive and can unnecessarily expose patients to radiation, yet the procedures contribute little to the diagnosis, according to a study by Kaiser Permanente Southern California's Department of Research & Evaluation published in the May issue of the Journal of Urology.
