FDA grants orphan drug designation to pralatrexate for treatment of advanced TCC of urinary bladder

Allos Therapeutics, Inc. announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted orphan drug designation to pralatrexate for the treatment of advanced or metastatic transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder, a form of bladder cancer. The Company is currently investigating pralatrexate in a Phase 2 clinical study in patients with advanced or metastatic relapsed TCC of the urinary bladder.

TapImmune announces definitive purchase agreement for Senior Secured Convertible Notes totaling $1.53M

TapImmune Inc., a Nevada corporation, announced today that the Company entered into a definitive purchase agreement on May 17, 2010 with accredited investors to place Senior Secured Convertible Notes totaling $1.53 million. There are only two FDA/EMEA approved drugs currently available for treating advanced melanoma. The available drugs, however, are not completely effective and have adverse effects. New DVS radiation measurement device for prostate cancer treatment

John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center announced today that it is one of two cancer centers in the tri-state area currently implanting a wireless radiation sensor, known as DVS. John Theurer Cancer Center radiation oncologists can now receive data immediately post- treatment on the precise amount of radiation being delivered to tumors and surrounding tissue for prostate cancer treatments.

Combination therapy proves to be effective treatment for lethal form of leukemia: Research

New research discovers a combination of drugs that may prove to be a more effective treatment for a lethal form of leukemia. The study, published by Cell Press in the May issue of the journal Cancer Cell, reports that the new therapeutic strategy effectively targets notoriously intractable leukemia stem cells that often escape standard treatment and are a main factor in disease relapse.
