New data for BMS747158 to be featured in oral presentation at ACC Annual Scientific Session 2010

Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc., a worldwide leader in diagnostic imaging, today announced that new data for BMS747158, the company’s novel drug candidate in clinical development as a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) perfusion imaging agent, will be featured in an oral presentation at the American College of Cardiology 59th Annual Scientific Session taking place March 14-16, 2010 in Atlanta.

Bilateral oophorectomy may do more harm than good

Removal of the ovaries (bilateral oophorectomy) while performing a hysterectomy is common practice to prevent the subsequent development of ovarian cancer. This prophylactic procedure is performed in 55% of all U.S. women having a hysterectomy, or approximately 300,000 times each year. An article in the March/April issue of The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology suggests that this procedure may do more harm than good.
