In a new study published online today by Clinical Therapeutics, researchers from Adheris, Inc., an inVentiv Health company, found that patients new to chronic disease medication face the greatest risk of medication discontinuation during the first 30 days of treatment—with rates of discontinuation ranging from 29.6% to 78.1%.

UCLA Center For Health Policy Research: Health Disparities Among California's Nearly Four Million Low-Income Nonelderly Adult Women - Using data from the 2007 California Health Interview Survey, the authors of this policy brief compare low-income women, ages 18-64, to others. The report finds the low-income women are four times more likely to report fair or poor health and are more likely to report a health condition that interferes with basic physical activities, such as walking or climbing stairs.

Stentys commences enrollment in its comparative stent study

Medical device pioneer Stentys announced today that the first patient has been enrolled into the ‘APPOSITION II’ clinical study—a randomized trial comparing the Stentys self-expanding stent with a conventional balloon-expandable stent in AMI patients. Type 2 diabetics with CAD experience greater antiplatelet activity with prasugrel compared to clopidogrel

Results from a new study showed patients with type 2 diabetes who also had coronary artery disease (CAD) experienced greater antiplatelet activity with the investigational antiplatelet drug prasugrel compared to Plavix(R) (clopidogrel). Patients who received a 60 mg loading dose and 10 mg maintenance dose of prasugrel achieved significantly greater platelet inhibition compared with a 600 mg loading dose and 150 mg maintenance dose of Plavix.
