CTI's pixantrone trial for relapsed/refractory aggressive NHL: FDA ODAC finds data inadequate for approval

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee panel voted unanimously that clinical trial data was not adequate to support approval of pixantrone for patients with relapsed or refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Advaxis' ADXS11-001 Phase 1 study for cervix cancer failures: 13.3% of treated patients alive at over 3 years

Ongoing follow up of the surviving patients from the phase I study of ADXS11-001 for the treatment of cervix cancer failures conducted by Advaxis, Inc.,, the live, attenuated Listeria monocytogenes (Listeria) immunotherapy company, has shown that two of fifteen treated patients or 13.3% are still alive 1,248 and 1,128 days after receiving their initial dose.

Patient dosing in CyDex Pharmaceuticals' Phase 2A clinical trial of CDX-353 initiated

CyDex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced the initiation of patient dosing in the company’s Phase 2A clinical trial of its Captisol-Enabled® Melphalan HCL. Scientists identify new growth factor that stimulates expansion of hematopoietic stem cells

Scientists at Duke University Medical Center have identified a new growth factor that stimulates the expansion and regeneration of hematopoietic (blood-forming) stem cells in culture and in laboratory animals. The discovery, appearing in the journal Nature Medicine, may help researchers overcome one of the most frustrating barriers to cellular therapy: the fact that stem cells are so few in number and so stubbornly resistant to expansion.

European CHMP issues positive opinion for Roche's Tarceva as maintenance therapy for NSCLC

Roche today announced that the European Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has issued a positive opinion for use of Tarceva(R) (erlotinib) as a maintenance therapy for people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and stable disease (cancer remains largely unchanged) after initial chemotherapy. The CHMP positive opinion clears the way for European Union approval and means that this group of patients may soon be able to benefit from earlier treatment with Tarceva.

CHMP issues positive opinion recommending approval of Tarceva as monotherapy for NSCLC
