Genta Incorporated today announced top-line results from AGENDA, the Company’s Phase 3 trial of Genasense® (oblimersen sodium) Injection in patients with advanced melanoma. AGENDA is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of dacarbazine administered with or without Genasense® in patients who have not previously received chemotherapy.

NCCN Guidelines for breast cancer does not recommend prophylactic mastectomy in women

Despite a recent study finding that an increasing number of women who had cancer in one breast are opting to have the other breast removed, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology(TM) for Breast Cancer discourages prophylactic mastectomy in women except for those considered high risk.

Enrollment for Phase 2 clinical study of NKTR-102 completed ahead of schedule

Oncolytics Biotech receives its 33rd U.S. Patent

Oncolytics Biotech Inc. today announced that it has been granted its 33rd U.S. Patent, # 7,608,257, entitled "Sensitization of Chemotherapeutic Agent Resistant Neoplastic Cells With a Virus." The patent claims cover methods of using reovirus in combination with currently approved chemotherapeutic agents to treat patients that are refractory to those chemotherapeutic agents alone.
