AbbVie announces HUMIRA phase II study results for treating hidradenitis suppurativa

AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) today announced results from a post-hoc analysis of an investigational Phase II study, which evaluated HUMIRA® (adalimumab) in the treatment of patients with moderate-to-severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) after 16 weeks of therapy.

New study highlights that physicians prefer topical therapies for actinic keratosis

Over 90 per cent of physicians treating actinic keratosis (AK) prefer short duration treatment options with fast resolving local skin responses (LSRs), is the finding of a global study (‘Physician Perceptions and Experience of Current Treatment in Actinic Keratosis’) that is being presented today at the 22nd Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV).

A*STAR, NSC and NTU to expand skin research in Singapore

Singapore is committing close to S$100 million to skin research, with the announcement of the Skin Research Institute of Singapore. A collaboration between the Agency for Science Technology and Research, National Skin Centre and Nanyang Technological University, the SRIS will harness the expertise of scientists, clinicians and engineers to foster and conduct high impact, inter-disciplinary skin research designed to translate into improved health outcomes and quality of life.

Botox Cosmetic receives FDA approval for treatment of crow’s feet lines

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved a new use for Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe lateral canthal lines, known as crow’s feet, in adults. Botox Cosmetic is the only FDA approved drug treatment option for lateral canthal lines.
