WHO, WEF reports examine cost of treating and preventing, economic burden of NCDs

Low-income countries "could introduce measures to prevent and treat millions of cases of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and lung disease for a little as $1.20 per person per year, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Sunday" in a report released on the eve of the U.N. High-level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) taking place this week in New York, Reuters reports.

Top-line data from Santarus' budesonide MMX extended use study on ulcerative colitis

Santarus, Inc., a specialty biopharmaceutical company, today announced that analysis of top-line safety data from a double blind, multicenter 12-month extended use study in patients treated daily with either the investigational drug budesonide MMX 6 mg or placebo will be provided as support for the company's planned submission of a New Drug Application (NDA) for budesonide MMX 9 mg to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the induction of remission of mild or moderate active ulcerative colitis.

The agreement grants St. Mary the exclusive rights to the KidShape 2.0 program in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. St. Mary will implement the program in its own centers for an initial period of two years, as well as seek new licensees for the program in their territory.
