Consumer-friendly "finger stick" blood test to detect cardiovascular disease is broadly available now

A new blood test, measuring the level of omega-3 fatty acids in red blood cells, is now broadly available for the first time to the public everywhere as a consumer-friendly, at-home "finger stick" test. The Parkinson's Disease Foundation and the Davis Phinney Foundation jointly fund new study

The Davis Phinney Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with Parkinson's disease (PD) today, announced that it has awarded four Parkinson's disease research centers with support to conduct a landmark study on the long-term changes in quality of life and mobility that occur in people with PD. Asia needs irrigation, farming reform to avoid 'chronic food shortages'

To avert "chronic food shortages and social unrest," Asia must improve its irrigation and farming processes, according to a study, issued by the U.N.'s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Agence France-Presse reports. The study found that by 2050, Asia is expected to have an additional 1.5 billion people, which would put "more pressure on already scarce food supplies," the news service writes.
