Lilly released results today from a Phase II study evaluating Lilly Oncology's tasisulam, a novel anti-cancer agent, in patients with metastatic melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Study results will be presented during the 46th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) held in Chicago, Ill. on June 6, 2010.

Tanning an addiction among young women

Amber Peterson, 31, used to visit tanning booths every other day for 10 years until she was diagnosed with the deadliest form of skin cancer at age 26. After surgery to remove the melanoma and several lymph nodes, this blond-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned woman is currently cancer-free. She has since traded in tanning beds for self-tanner in a bottle.

Web conference to analyze latest trends, developments in the European melanoma skin cancer market

There are only two FDA/EMEA approved drugs currently available for treating advanced melanoma. The available drugs, however, are not completely effective and have adverse effects. Unmet needs of patients, especially those with advanced melanoma are therefore quite high and have led to a low drug adoption and market growth over the years. New DVS radiation measurement device for prostate cancer treatment

John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center announced today that it is one of two cancer centers in the tri-state area currently implanting a wireless radiation sensor, known as DVS. John Theurer Cancer Center radiation oncologists can now receive data immediately post- treatment on the precise amount of radiation being delivered to tumors and surrounding tissue for prostate cancer treatments.
