The report, newly published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, suggests that the link may be to do with certain biological effects of breastfeeding. For example, breastfeeding restores insulin tolerance which is significantly reduced during pregnancy, and Alzheimer's is characterised by insulin resistance in the brain.

IQWiG dossier assessment finds no added benefit of lixisenatide

Lixisenatide (trade name: Lyxumia) has been approved in Germany since February 2013 for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in combination with oral blood-glucose lowering drugs or basal insulin when these, together with diet and exercise, do not provide adequate glycaemic control. In an early benefit assessment pursuant to the Act on the Reform of the Market for Medicinal Products, the German Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care examined whether this new drug offers an added benefit over the current standard therapy.

Adocia, Lilly terminate collaboration agreement relating to fast-acting insulin analog

Adocia, a biotechnology company specializing in the development of ‘best-in-class’ medicines from already approved therapeutic proteins, announced today that it had agreed with Eli Lilly and Company not to continue further joint research under the licensing agreement signed in December 2011 relating to use of Adocia's BioChaperone(R) technology for the formulation of fast acting insulin analog formulated with the BioChaperone(R) technology. Consequently, the two companies have terminated the collaboration.
