Cancer screening methods are not perfect: Experts

Prostatitis is a psychoneuromuscular condition: Study

In the November 2009 issue of the Journal of Urology, Stanford Medical School researcher Dr. Rodney Anderson and researchers at the National Center for Pelvic Pain Research, in a new study, demonstrated a high correlation between the location of painful trigger points inside the pelvic floor muscles of men with chronic prostatitis and the location in the body where they routinely complain of pain.

Study reveals that male factor infertility is associated with a number of medical comorbidities

The December issue of European Urology, the official journal of the European Association of Urology, features an article entitled 'Are Infertile Men Less Healthy than Fertile Men? Results of a Prospective Case-Control Survey' by Dr. Andrea Salonia et al. The conclusion is that male factor infertility is associated with a number of medical comorbidities, as objectively scored with the hospital-based Charlson Comorbidity Index.

New technique to identify patients more likely to survive advanced melanoma

Although the chances of surviving advanced melanoma aren't very good with current therapies, some patients can live for years with cancer that has spread beyond the skin to other organs. Now it may be possible to identify which patients are more likely to survive by analyzing the activity of hundreds of genes involved in the immune response and gene proliferation, according to researchers at NYU Langone Medical Center.

Warner Chilcott reports a net income of $424.2M for the quarter ended September 30, 2009

Warner Chilcott plc today announced its results for the quarter ended September 30, 2009. Revenue in the quarter ended September 30, 2009 increased 9.0% to $252.8 million over the prior year quarter. The primary drivers of the increase in revenue in the quarter were the net sales of LOESTRIN 24 FE and ESTRACE Cream which were partially offset by net sales declines of other products, primarily TACLONEX.

Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today reported net income of $63.0 million, or $0.55 per diluted share for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009. Excluding special items as detailed in the reconciliation table below, adjusted net income for the third quarter was $76.1 million, or $0.66 per diluted share, an increase of $22.1 million or 41 percent over the adjusted net income for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008. As detailed in the attached reconciliation table, adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter was $178.4 million.
